Overview

The Digital Communications Manager (DCM) will be responsible for developing, managing and executing internal and external communications initiatives including corporate communications, public relations/ media relations, social media, and digital publications that reflect The World’s unique brand. The DCM will have a strategic role in shaping and delivering the company’s messaging across internal and external platforms with a focus on luxury brand standards, ultra-high-net-worth individuals and global operations. He/she will play a pivotal role in leading The World's transition from traditional print to more modern and dynamic digital communications. He/she will develop a digital content strategy that will enhance the user experience. He/she will guide internal stakeholders (Residents, Guests and staff) through a shift to a digital-first mindset. The DCM will collaborate across departments, Shipboard and shoreside, to ensure consistency of information across all platforms. He/she will serve as a key liaison between Ship staff and the social media agency to support the agency’s content creation and storytelling efforts. Focus will be placed on overseeing the production of high-quality, Resident-focused digital publications that support Destination Services.

Responsibilities

Digital Publications

  • Lead content development and publication of digital communications such as The World In, Destination Experiences, expedition booklets, and Overland Journey brochures serving as a liaison between the Destination Services department, The World Concierge, external contractors and internal editors.
  • Oversee the redesign and delivery of online publications that are visually compelling, mobile-optimized, and aligned with brand standards.
  • Manage the production team of part-time contracted writers, designers, and editors, some of whom work remotely.
  • Oversee all stages of workflow from publication schedules to the collection of content and writing to prompt engineering/content refinement using Artificial Intelligence, to editing, proofing and fact checking, and final online publishing.
  • Liaise with IT Project Manager and Launch Partners on AI-generated content updates, CMS, and projects impacting Navigator pages.
  • Edit, re-write, and proof all content for grammar, brand standards, formatting, style, and tone of voice to ensure brand consistency.

Public Relations

  • Maintain and regularly update The World’s online Press Room and digital Press Kit, ensuring all materials—fact sheets, bios, press releases, topic sheets, photography, and brand assets—are accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with the brand.

Social Media

  • Coordinate the collection of high-quality assets (photos, videos, and content) from onboard and shoreside events and activities that showcase Residents’ lifestyle, destinations visited, and experiences in an authentic way.
  • Review and edit the agency’s content and manage departmental approvals if needed.

Corporate Communications

  • Draft corporate communications for internal and external audiences including Navigator website, emails, executive newsletters and more ensuring company tone and style, clarity, and consistency.
  • Review messaging across all departments and platforms to reinforce organizational culture, alignment and operational priorities.
  • Weekend support when necessary to assist with time-sensitive matters.

Qualifications

  • Minimum BA or BS 3-4 year degree in communications, public relations, marketing, publications, journalism or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in public relations, marketing, publications, journalism or communications, or candidates with an advanced degree who have proven academic or project-based experience in the aforementioned fields in the luxury hospitality industry or with a global brand
  • Must be able to manage several projects simultaneously within deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to conceptualize an idea and expand its functionality into a strategy
  • Must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Ability to handle sensitive material concerning the organization and Resident information
  • Excellent creative writing and theme development skills
  • Exceptional communications and editing skills in English language (written and verbal)
  • Ability to interface and communicate well with all departments within the company (shoreside and shipboard)
  • Possess a high degree of proficiency with MS Office products including Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook and digital publication tools
  • Working knowledge of web design, content management, graphic design and administration
  • Experience and familiarity with graphic design
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is required to walk; use hands to handle or operate computers, office equipment, objects, tools or controls; and be able to raise objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position-to-position.

  • The employee must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading.
